[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Protecting Glass

I am picking up a lightly used Aimpoint T1 that has been kryloned. I have read to use Acetone / mineral spirits / etc to remove the paint without harming the finish, but are there any concerns regaring the coated glass? Is Acetone / mineral spirits harmfull to the glass? Is there a better way I'm not seeing?

id give aimpoint a call for suggestions. id be concerned about the waterproof seals. worst case you could always krylon spray it black.

Isn't the metal frame of the aim points an anodized aluminum? If so no paint remover will effect it

As for the glass I'm not sure of the coating. Contact aim point or just be sure careful

I have used blue painters tape cut to shape to protect the glass with great success. I wad up a little cotton ball underneath the tape.

I used Kleen Strip which is a nasty chemical stripper that contains MEK, and I know it all got on the glass, but had no effect. Same process on a Leupold and Nightforce. No effect on glass.
