Does this just screw off to access the threads?

If you're talking about the knurled cap, yes.

To be more clear, I have a thread on suppressor, will I be able to access the threads for a direct screw on (by removing this without tools?

You need a barrel vise and a wrench to get that muzzle device off if you have a thread on.  If you have a QD can you can just twist the knurled thread protector off the acme threads.  If you have a thread on I'd just leave the muzzle device off.

I'm thinking about purchasing this upper but my can is thread on only, just wondering how much hassel to get it back to useable threads.

Not a hassle at really, but find someone who can secure the barrel correctly and twist off the qd flash hider.

You can see the wrench flats in the pic, it might require some heat to loosen the loctite.

Will depend on if the installer followed YHM installation specs or not...because they do not recommend using any loctite, Rocksett, etc.

Make sure the threads under that flash hider match your suppressor.

Once you get that YHM mount off, sell it on Equipment Exchange.  The mount and knurled thread protector are both valuable to us folks with YHM QD cans.

I just switched to the YHM brake instead of the flash hider - pretty great.

What barrel length?  If it is under 16" the muzzle device may be pinned and welded to reach a legal 16".

Will it be going on a pistol or SBR lower?

I have a pile of brakes sitting and waiting for some time and RockSett to swap out.
