I used the version with just the pic rail and no extended portion over the cocking tube for a while. Worked fine, pretty much all of these clamp on rail designs operate on the same principle. I eventually swapped it out for a different rail because I wanted something a little lower profile, the MI one has a bit taller rail compared to others. |

I am familiar with both the MI rail (well the gen 1, you posted the gen 2) and the UTG PRO Monolithic rail. The way the UTG PRO rail mounts up is much easier to install onto the receiver lugs IMO and locks up nice and tight. Depending on what you are wanting to do, the top M-LOK rail extension on the MI is good for mounting pressure switches, etc. It has enough slots to mount a Surefire pressure switch (the full size MP5 one at least). That said, you will likely want to pair it with an aftermarket handguard to actually mount the flashlight. The K model especially. The UTG PRO Monolithic gives you the real estate to mount the pressure switch and the flashlight since it basically includes a handguard as well. The Picatinny optics mount portion of both do fine. However, the UTG PRO mount with it being so low, does not work with the Eotech EXPS. The beefy integral QD mount of the EXPS specifically, does not allow it to seat on the rail, something you will want to keep in mind. Hope this helps. |
