This is not to start a flame but I would like to know why you see so many "rebuilt" glocks for sale. I have a friend that wants to swap me his glock 9mm for my Beretta 92FS and the thought of rebuilt glocks ran through my mind. Thanks... |

Glock has a program where they will buy back Glocks from police departments when they decide they want to change calibers. So, they take these guns, replace all of the "guts", refinish the slide, and sell the refurbished gun. Given the service life of a Glock (100,000+ rounds), and the fact that most police guns are "carried much, shot little", these "rebuilt" guns are a steal. -Troy |
Huh????? Troy, I beg to differ with you. More "police" guns are shot MORE than the average gun [owned by ordinary citizens]. When you take in the fact that a police officer generally must qualify with the weapon every "tri-mester" (every 3 months of the year) or sometimes even more than that. A cop's gun gets shot more often than most other privately owned guns. Yeah yeah, you're probably gonna tell me that you shoot yours once per week every week for the past 10 years......There's always an exception but it's for a "select FEW." Most guns owned by private persons see more time in a gun case/safe than MOST cop's guns see on the qualifying range. |
| HK Don't know about the depts in your area. In my area of Michigan most officers qualify 2 times a year and the department decides how much they shoot. As for a rebuilt Glock look at their warrantee. I've got a 1st generation 21 and olny replaced the trigger bar. You can keep my Sig 226 40SW ( if the boss will let you). |
