Sorry this question is very non-technical and not super relevant, but I wanted to see if anyone could give me some info on paint. I am planning on painting a rifle OD green. I am using magpul buttstock and pistol grip both in magpul OD green. Has anyone found a green paint that is very close to magpul's OD? Thanks

Suggest NOT using paint.  Not very durable and does not resist solvents too well.  Suggest using Cerakote or Norrell's Molyresin.  Both come in flat OD.

If your already painting the rifle just paint it whatever green you want and paint over the magpul stuff.

The Brownells AlumaHyde II in OD Green is a very close match to Magpul OD. I painted one of my AK's with Magpul OD furniture and I'm very happy with the near match.

Thanks for the info guys. When I said "paint" I meant Cerakote or its equivalent. Didn't know they had it in OD green. Can you buy Cerakote in a local paint store?

AlumaHyde II is different from Cerakote. Duracoat is different from Cerakote. Only Cerakote is Cerakote. Each of the different types has it's own 'pluses' and 'minuses', in my experience.

Alumahyde II is the cheapest. It's more durable than Krylon or Rustoleum, but not as durable as Duracoat or Cerakote. If you don't have an airbrush, then I would recommend either Alumahyde II or, especially, Duracoat Aerosol.

You won't find any of the above types at your local paint store.
