Still gathering parts for my pvs 14. looking at tubes on ebay and found a tube listed as MX 11769/uv He stated that it was indeed for a pvs 14. He also stated that it didn't work. Couldn't get the tube to light up or anything. Now maybe he just didn't do something right and it wasn't working for him. But it still sold for almost 1200 bucks. So my question is, If it doesn't work, why is it still so valuable? What can be done with a broken tube? Thanks in advance for any replies |

Because the world is full of people who don't know what stuff is worth. If it wasn't lighting up, it's probably faulty. Value - About $100... It's not hard to light up. Just apply 3v to the pads. If it doesn't light up, reverse the contacts. If it still doesn't light up, it's stuffed. Regards David

The seller usually knows full well the tube is toast but leaves a mystery of sort. There will always be a few who will bid it up and take a gamble. If the auction does not have a 7 day inspection period stay away. I have seen these guys in action for many years. They are slick and very shrewd. They word things very carefully. A monkey can be taught to tell if a tube works or not. The whole "I don't know" is usually a ploy. |
