I am military and I am curious whether or not the the LVL IV+ ceramic stand-alones they sell are the same quality or better than the plates that we are issued?
I am thinking of getting a full set for my TTRAC that I got for Christmas. |

I am thinking of getting a full set for my TTRAC that I got for Christmas. Are you talking about THESE PLATES? If so, they seem to be very good plates for the price. My concern would be their durability (since they're ceramic) and the fact that they don't appear to have any sort of aramid or polyethylene backer (which helps to hold the plates together and catch spalling and fragments that make it through the ceramic). If you are .mil, then I would recommend that you check out the AMI TAC3S plates. They are actually a tad lighter than the BPM plates, and are of a hybrid design (steel and Dyneema). They won't stop AP rounds like a L4 plate will, but the likelihood of you facing such a threat in CONUS is pretty remote. |
