Scenario:
A person who happens to hold a type 01 FFL agrees on a price and purchases several rifles and shotguns from an individual in his same state at the seller's residence in a state where FTF transfers are legal. None are NFA. He brings them to his licensed premises, logs them into his bound book as coming from himself, and offers them for sale. He obtains buyers via the internet and ships the firearms from his business to other licensed dealers for disposition to the buyer. He makes money doing it, reports the income, and pays taxes. He intends to repeat this process. Any trouble? |

You're going to run into problems there I think. |

I mean because the purchase transaction would not take place at the premises.
Asking a different way, can an FFL PURCHASE off premises, FTF and then log it in as coming from the seller that way? I know disposition has to be done at premises, but what about purchase? |

I know disposition has to be done at premises, but what about purchase? Is the FFL holder a sole proprietor? Is the business premises their home or in there name? It just seems a little shady to me. I advise to log them in as coming from the actual seller. My question is why would you wanna do it that way? It may be setting yourself up for problems |

Sole proprietor.
The only possible reason would be if you (as a type 01 FFL) are not permitted to purchase firearms off premises. Lets say you are a hundred miles away in the same state, and you have a chance to buy the rifle. The seller is unwilling to drive it to your premises to sell it there. You have the cash, the seller is willing to provide his identity. If a type 01 FFL can make purchases anywhere, there would be no need. That's essentially the question I am asking. "Can a licensee purchase firearms from an individual, away from his licensed premises?" |

Edit; When going out of state and buying firearms, I'd carry a paper copy of your FFL. |
| Like mentioned above, I always take my FFL when I go on vacation or other travel. you never know what your going to find or what kind of offer you may come upon. Ive even brought my bound book sometimes so I can be ready. Just log it in from the seller (name and address) and enjoy life. |
