If there was a issue with the quality of a fingerprint cards would the applicant know early on in the process or not until 5 months when they finally get around to doing the Form 4.  Are the print cards split out from the forms and checked months before the examiner gets to the forms?

No. The print cards are not processed, or touched in any way, until your application is assigned to an examiner (i.e., goes "pending").

Yeah so when it goes pending, the cards are split out and sent off for processing separate from the forms.  I ment if there was a issue with the print cards would you not know until day like 120 when they finally got around to approving the form.  Or would they let you know earlier as soon as they got the cards back from the FBI check, so you can resubmit new ones.

I believe that if the print cards come back flagged by the FBI for having a problem, NFA Branch will let you know fairly quickly. They won't necessarily wait until they get around to your application.
