I am a deputy sheriff in NC and have had an AR15 for years.My question is,I have qualified with my AR with the department in order to carry it on patrol.Is there some sort of provision that will allow me to SBR the weapon becauuse I am aLEO without it being registered as NFA.The weapon itself is owned by me and used for official duty.

No.

You're just another citizen; your job means nothing.

If it was department-owned, that is another story, but your personal rifle has to be registered.

I'm fairly sure a police department would need to send in Form 1's, but a P.D. would be exempt from the $200 tax (see box 1 on a Form 1).
