How far back past the muzzle device does the can go?  I'm thinking of SBRing my carbine that has a DD FSP 12.0 on it and want to know how much I can chop off while keeping that handguard.

The flash hider goes over the barrel something like 1/8". The m42k is flush with the back of the mount.

A 12.5" barrel should be good to go

A 12.5" bbl won't work because the back of my AAC brake is exactly 3" from the rail with a 16" bbl.  So, it looks like if I chop 2.9" off it will be gtg.  Thanks!

I don't know how long the threaded area of most AR barrels is. But consider that if it is at least 1/2 an inch, all you would have stocking out of a 12" rail (many rails listed as 12" are not exactly 12" either) would be that 1/2 inch of threads. The M42k mount goes back past that. I don't believe it is going to work.
