I’ve become interested in the R22 and trying to find out some more info, although 1 batch has reached the UK they were all sold out and I haven’t seen a UK review yet. I am trying to find out some more info. I guess the versions shipping to the UK will be version 2 (I am aware there are 1, 1.5 and version 2 out there.)

I know that there are R22threads on here but there’s a lot of speculation and problem fixing amongst it.

I am looking for individual general opinions, as well as answers to a few questions.

Magazines,

I understand it ships to the UK with a 25 round BC hot lips magazine how do these compare to others you have tested

Ammo

From what I’ve read so far it like the ammo hot, is this true?

Stock

I’ve read some people have filled the stock as it feels flimsy, what’s the consensus on this?

Accuracy

(Please say which version you have (standard/ bull barrel).)

Off bipod and unsupported standing?

How much did your groups when firing fast as possible compared to slow purposeful shooting?

Moderator

Anyone had it screw cut and added a suppressor?

If so what sort (one that adds to then end or an over barrel, sleeve type) how effective are they, and did having it screw cut effect accuracy?

When and What? (guess this is a question for the RhinelandArms member)

Do you know when the next batch will be shipped to the UK? I understand the paper work is state department so this could be a how long is a piece of string question.

What rifles will go out pure black, black with grey/green, MP5? (any clue as to which version SD is mentioned on some forums but what I’ve read on others suggests standard MP5)

Have you added anything extra or made modifications?

I have read some of you have put in/on after market mod (extractors and stocks) thoughs snd opinions on these?

From my own experiences with other 10/22's, I shelved the new hotlips mags and instead use steel lips mags, which work 100%.

Yup, subsonic or target ammo is questionable.  Perhaps once broken in.  The hammer spring is already a reduced weight, so further lightening is ill adviced.  If you must, find a spare bolt and remove a bit of mass.

The factory stock sucks.  Looks good, feels flimsy, handle with care as it can be broken quickly.

I've got the bull barrel, and it's great off the bag.  Freehand, it's muzzle heavy weight is a pluss and rapid fire doesn't open the groupings as much as a light whippy gun like the 10/22.

Average time at the State Department for a properly filled out export application is 6 weeks.

I didn't need one, byt YMMV

My standard barrel is as accurate as my Anschutz bolt action 64. Under .2" groups at 25 yards with CCI minimags, .3" with Dynapoints.

It eats standard velocity Winchester Dynapoints just fine. In fact, it prefers them.

Only aftermarket part I had to add was a VQ extractor to cut down on stovepiping. I have a very eary version 1 with a very tight chamber.

Mine runs fine now with Ruger, Ramline doublestack, BC Hotlips, and an old Condor magazine. It does not work at all with Eaton mags. It runs BEST with magazines with an integral ejector on them.

I like mine A LOT and am waiting for good iron sights for it.

I have a R22 version 2.  I have only put around 250 rounds through it. I haven't done any accuracy testing, just function testing. I have great luck (reliability-wise) with Federal Game Shock ammo....it does seem a little hotter then others. It's also a little more expensive then others. $4/100 isn't too bad anyway. I bought 2 BC hotlips mags and they ran perfect with 20 rounds instead of 25.....I will keep testing and see if I can get more rounds to run good. I now have 6 25rd BC hotlips mags and need to test the rest. They seem to be a winner.

The stock is a piece of crap....Rhineland has even agreed with this. It is flimsy and others have had it break when taking it apart. I haven't had it break yet...fingers crossed.

I haven't had to add anything to make it run better, although I did add a pair of Iron sights and a fake can for looks.

Matt,

further to my IM, I prefer the light weight barrel version for off-hand shooting, but off a bipod or bag it makes no real difference. The heavy barrel moves the cog a bit too far forward for my liking.

I will be threading the muzzle of the light weight and fitting a T8AR silencer, and M16 A2 flash hider when no can fitted, to protect the thread. Why? Becaue I can, no other reason, as I don't see myself hunting bunnies with it. It might look good with the Parker Hale MM1 silencer but I have to make my mind up now on thread pitch and I think I'll go with 1/2x28 std AR thread.

Matt
ps have the other banned R22 threads come back yet? I must search.
