Quick question. Does the present production RDB hunter 20” have a threaded barrel? I have checked Kel Tech’s website and they do not mention it having a threaded barrel. I have watched YouTube videos showing that the hunter does have a threaded barrel, but those videos are 3 years old or more. Kel Tec is known for changing options without notifying the general public. Thank you for your assistance. |

I don’t have a hunter model but: Go to the KelTec web site and select the hunter model and then select download manual. Page 19 schematic shows a part described as a thread protecter. https://www.keltecweapons.com/firearm/rifles/rdb/ |

Its been a few years, but looks identical to the one on the Keltec website. That is a thread cover on the end of the barrel. It is threaded 1/2-28' but has an unconventional thread set up. It has a long threaded area and it looks like a place where the Survival front site can mount. When I say long threaded area, I'm talking about 1"-1.25" vs the .6" long section of a standard AR barrel. So you'll need a muzzle device that locks on the front of the muzzle instead of on the shoulder of the barrel. The standard RDB also has longer threads and uses a jam nut for the flash hider. So the long threaded barrel isn't unique to the Hunter, but it has the added notch for the Survival front site. I think it was for a configuration that never happened. But if anyone has a Survival front site they don't want, I'd love to have it. |
