I sent my Vector V-53 SBR that Vector won't fix to RDTS on Friday. It's supposed to be there Wednesday. I've asked several questions about who to send it to for the best quality service and repair and most of the fingers pointed at RDTS. I spoke with Ralph (Sr.) and he said that the longest turnaround time should be two weeks.
Does anyone else have any experiences with them? |

He did a rebarrel and refinish on my SBR'd SP89. He is local to me and my turn around was 3 or 4 days, and he does great work!! FYI, he does not like email, if you need to get a hold of him, call him and he usually will answer the phone personally. I'm going to have to give him a call. My V51 SBR is a piece of junk and needs help badly too. For the OP: Was shipping the firearm a pain? Did you have to get an approved Form 5 or any other paperwork from NFA branch? Also what's the best method for shipping a Title II firearm? |

Really the only way to ship a title II firearm is USPS. Believe it or not it is legal. Most USPS stations are not well versed on this. Ship it registered & insured for the amount. I've heard horror stories about UPS & Fedex loosing stuff & not making good on them. http://www.cgwgun.com/shipping/usps.aspx |

UPS says it has to be "double boxed" the cardboard has to be "corrugated". I also had it bubble wrapped and zip tied to the inner box. I included a copy of my Form-4 and a short note with what the problem was. It cost $28.00 to ship insured. |

The dollar difference between your V51 & my registered receiver Fleming 51 are vastly different. UPS loosing yours could be a sweet deal for you. Them paying off a $15K machine gun is another story. |

Mine is a V-53. The .223 version. I was told by UPS not long ago that they no longer ship machine guns. It had something to do about a claim somebody made. |

Yeah when their drivers leave machine guns on folks front porch ring the bell & run off, then the machine guns turns up missing ATF tends to get pissed off. Then when it happens repeatedly & the guns are extremely high dollar UPS starts to learn from their mistakes. |

My friend bought an MP5 through an online dealer and when he inquired about insuring his $18k weapon the dealer said "I ship them overnight to your FFL, you won't need to insure it because if it comes up missing you will have more help finding it than you'll know what to do with"..... |

RDTS is GTG, but... you can interpret that "2 weeks" into 6-8wks.... just sayin' Still a 1000 times quicker than Dyer or Urbach, and he answers his phone. Just saying..... According to UPS, my rifle arrived there last Wednesday. I've made several calls trying to confirm that it did get there and no one is answering the phone. Left several messages on the answering machine and no return calls. |

I just want to make sure that the sucker gets there. I have as much faith in UPS as I do the post office. They finally answered the phone today. He had to go searching through several offices before he found it still in the box. Makes me feel better. An NFA item left lying around in an office for a week.

I doubt it was laying somewhere that wasn't locked down securely. My MP5K was at a Mailboxes etc. for over a week. They never bothered contacting my NFA dealer. I contacted RDTS & they gave me the name of who signed for it. |
