It might be easier to just buy them. I saw this ad on the boards a while back.
Replacement steel paddles for use with SWD Lightning Link or similar, currently in stock and ready to go. (after being briefly out of stock this past week) $15 each or $10 each in qty 10 or more plus $3.85 for priority mail shipping. PayPal (Visa/MC/Discover/Amex) accepted, please add 3%. Rich Stone FFL/SOT Colorado Springs, CO (719) 594-6601 But if you're patient, you can make your own. First you need to find some metal to use that's about the right thickness. I used the blade from an old mitre saw. I cut the metal to rough size using a hacksaw then to final size using a bench grinder. I made the notches using a hacksaw and finished it with a hand file. Overall, it took me about 10 to 15 minutes. |

I've still got a few dozen for sale, although USPS priority shipping has gone up since I last posted an ad on subguns.com.
As the poster above noted, you can make your own with a dremel and some patience if you've got access to the correct metal stock - when I first started out I used sawzall blades. The ones I have for sale are CNC EDM'd from .032" thick spring steel stock. |

I've bought before from someone on gunbroker IIRC. It was a while ago. Anyway, they weren't all that great. They just seemed cheap to me. I then bought some from M60Joe and they are the best that I've seen. I have a paddle that has 1000's of rounds of 9mm and the only wear is just from the marks from the bolt/rear lug. It hasn't bent or anything.
M60joe will make them any thickness you want too. Just measure the gap between your rear lug and the carrier then add .002" and he'll make them. I have no experience with paddles made by people on this board other than M60Joe so I can't compare the two. My $.02 |

Quoted:
Why add .002"? Because the carrier hits the RLL tab, which pivots the tab between the rear lug, which causes the link to move rearward which pulls the disconnector from the hammer. If it wasn't .002" bigger the tab would just sit there in the gap between the rear lug and the carrier. It may get hit by the carrier but it wouldn't be with enough force to reliably pivot the tab. |
