I searched for "TAC 55 gr load".but it did not return any results, so please just a bit of help.

I have an 18"  1 in 8 barrel and am looking for 3000 fps with a 55 grain FMJ bullet.

Any ideas?  Starting point?  Pet loads?

Thanks in advance

Jay

Have you looked in the Reloading forum instead of the Ammo forum?

I have used TAC for some load dev ( I bought 8 lbs on sale a few years back for $10/lb), but have no idea off the top of my head what I was loading.

i dont think TAC is recommended for lighter projectiles... my loading manual doesnt list it for them.

I load 23.5 gr of TAC behind 55grain FMJ with great results, love TAC.

For me 24gr TAC under a 53gr vmax is the best load I have found for my AR

24.5 grains of TAC with a 55 grain hornady FMJ does just over 2800 fps out of my 16" barrel AR15.

It would probably get you a bit closer with an 18" barrel, but I don't think you'll hit 3000.  You can probably safely load a bit higher, make sure you work up loads properly and start low.

This load shoots 3/4" groups out of my 1:9 twist ACR.
