I don't know if this is the best spot for this but here it goes. I picked up this barrel today (because I so needed it lol) but have no clue what it's for. I was told it was a Douglas 30-06 and that's all they knew. It has a 1 inch(caliper on threads) shank with a notch out of it at the 3 o'clock. Any ideas what the barrel was made for?

I should of phrased that differently. I'm trying to find out what gun this barrel will fit. I bought it on a whim hoping I could figure out what it's for.

Measure the tenon length, diameter, and the thread pitch.

This is basically a Mauser pattern tenon, but the dimensions are needed to narrow down which receiver it was cut for.

If you want to use the barrel it will have to be reworked by setting the shoulder back to fit another action of the same type it was made to fit, or have a new shoulder, threads, and chamber cut.

Not sure if these are the measurements you need. It is .40" wide and .275" deep on the out side. I don't have a thread pitch gauge here. I will try to check it tomorrow.
