It really depends on the ammo and to some extent, the shooter.
Some surplus ammo is not very accurate and that's what most folks shoot, so that can give the wrong impression of the FAL rifle's potential accuracy. I have seen just less than 2 MOA (about 1.75 MOA) from my 21" Imbel FAL using a Nikon 4x scope and Winchester 150 grain Silver Tip. The rifle and I were having a good day that day! With good hand loads or priemium commercial ammo I'd say that mine is a solid 2 MOA gun, with a scope. Cheers, EMSflyer |

I shoot the 1st & 3rd groups with Federal American Eagle Ammunition 308 150FMJ. My BlackHill 168SMK shoot 6 in high and about 4MOA that worry. I shoot the 3rd group from the some box of 150FMJ. Guess my FAL like cheap ammo just my luck. All three groups were fire from mags load three at a time. Thanks for you time guys.

Does anyone have vertical stringing issues with the FAL?
Like, does the FAL tend to have a vertical spread of about 4-5MOA and with only 2MOA horizontal spread at 100yrd? I would certainly test the accuracy myself but, I can not find a place that allows iron sites only on the 100yd range. So, I can only use 25yds lane until I get my scope. |

The blackHill 168SMK I shoot were vertical, but every FAL is different. For a scope the won't brake the bank look at Tasco World Class. |

The 1.75 MOA group with the Silver Tips was achieved during very slow fire and one round in the mag. I understand it's got something to do with uneven pressure on the bottom of the bolt as the number of rounds in the mag change during firing. I really think that heat is a major player here too. A long time ago I owned an Izzy HB FAL and I don't remember it stringing any rounds at all. In fact it was pretty accurate. Whish I had kept it but too heavy. |

So I guess we could all agree that the FAL type rifle will probably shoot 1-2MOA horizontally, and probably 1-4MOA vertically. Right? Did someone already test whether a fully loaded mag is a problem with the vertical stringing issue? The 168SMK I shoot had a fully loaded mag and got about 4MOA. The 150FMJ were loaded 3 to a mag and got 1.5-2.0MOA. When I get back from vacation I will update this report with loaded and partly loader mags of 150FMJ, BlackHill 168SMK, FGMM 175SMK. I will also try to shoot out to 500yds just to see if I can hit something off bi-pod. |

I shot this group at 100 yards with my South african kit gun and iron sights. Ammo was 150 grain hornaday FMJ and 42 grains of TAC powder. Probably one of the best group's I have gotten out of my FAL's.
