I searched and couldn't find anything. So sorry if this has been answered.

1) if I rattle can a wooden stock, is it going to be pretty much permanent?
2) if I decided to rattle can my AR and decided I didn't like it, how do I safely remove the paint?

1) Never tried so cant say for sure.

2) You can use paint thinners, 91% rubbing alcohol, or brake cleaner and some elbow grease. When I've done it it usually goes rubbing alcohol<paint thinner<brake cleaner in terms of effectiveness. I would use non chlorinated brake cleaners, chlorinated cleaner can damage plastic parts.
