Anyone pick up a light bearing phantom from Raven recently.  I just got a new one, and the retention is much different than my last phantom... very loose with no audible/tactile "click" when reholstering.  My older model was much more secure.  I had planned on just fixing it myself, but was wondering if this is just how they come now.  The mag pouches now have a wider footprint with a tension screw, but lack the detent used to retain the mag at the mag release notch... not sure if I like that either.

Anyone have the same experience with a new production phantom?  Running a G23/x300U combo.

Here's my old stuff:

Its been hit or miss with them for me with the audible click and the gummy-like squish. Not sure on the mag pouches but mine have a pretty wide footprint and a tension screw. For reference I ordered the mag pouches about 2 years ago and haven't ordered any more from them.

I think they went with thicker kydex on the mag pouches. My new ones don't have the indented retention notch, but they are also adjustable, which the old ones weren't. If you want the audible click you can probably use some heat at the trigger guard to increase retention there.

Yeah... I was just gonna do a heat gun fix.  Just wondering if they are intentionally doing it like that now.  You can see the mold is different for the holster (they would have had to make a new one for the x300U anyway), though I can't quite make out where the retention is at.  The light bearing holsters don't index on the triggerguard.  I could be wrong, but my OTG holster seems to use the U/P latch on the x300.

The click isn't so much of an issue as the amount of retention.  The new stuff is just really loose compared to the old stuff.

I think I see it.

The indentation for the takedown lever.

Can't help you, OP but just a question - why a new holster?

I got one for my M&P with an X300, and retention is excellent with the audible click.  Just wondering, but is your holster one of the quick ship models?  Mine wasn't, and I'm curious if that might be a possibility.

No it wasn't because I asked for a straight drop, plus I ordered it before the X300U was a quick ship option.

I wanted another one to keep in my locker at work. That way I don't have to go home to dress down for low key work.  We kind of have to do it all in our district, and can go from uniformed patrol, to clandestine surveillance, to tactical entry all in one shift.
