I bought a rcbs hand primer off of a freind . When i got it home and started trying to prime some brass it would not push the primer up into the brass. I started looking online and found out that i need a metal rod that drops down the top of the primer tool ( witch it did not xome with) . My question is what is that peice called and were do i get it. From what i seen online i will need one for a small primer and one for a large primer.

It looks to be about a inch long and the size of a primer . Thanks in advance

There should be 2 rods. One for large primers and one for small.

OP, when you get the rods make sure the flat end goes up (as in pushing the primer.)

You should also have two sets of parts #3 and #4. One set is for large primers and the other is for small primers.

If you have the plastic guides, you can make priming rods from drill rod or music wire or an old drill bit.  If you want to try that I'll send you a dimension for the length and diameter.

I squared mine up with a try square at first and that was okay, then I chucked in the drill press and ran the flat end down against wet or dry paper on top of a piece of granite tile I use for a flat platen.

Works fine.
