I had this (LRB Receiver)rifle built by a prominent M14 builder  and the receiver was scratched during install of the bolt stop roll pin and then cold blued....then it began to rust....just a heads up for anyone that is getting a build done....

These guns rust likes there's no tomorrow where I live. My AR seems fine though.

Rick, the smith must have been a novice.  I'm a novice, but I've done 3 and every time I do, I put lots of masking tape on that spot. There should be no reason to mess up the finish like that.

This receiver rusted because  it was scratched by the builder. I have other rifles in my safe including  a Garand and there is no rust on them....

I would contact him and ask for him to pay for the repair.

Someone forgot to nuetralize the cold blue with water after bluing. It will continue to attack the metal if you don't neutralize the cold blue.
You will need to very lightly rub the rusted area with 0000 steel wool with oil on it. If you rub too hard it will remove the parkerizing too much.

LRB's are nice recievers. Hate someone messed up the finish.

If I had a high dollar chunk of steel like that, I would be REAL pissed off every time I look at that rust spot
