Looking to get my first .30 suppressor. This will be mounted on SBR in 300blk and possibly a 11.5 inch 5.56 SBR.
The primary load for plinking in the 300BLK will be cast 245 grain bullets. So being able to take the can apart for cleaning is important. I am looking for QD so I can use a sacrifical muzzle brake if i do get the 11.5 inch 5.56 upper. I don't own anything FA and mag dumps are not something I do often, I do shoot doubles. Whatever can I do get, I will end up with two (one for me and one for the wife) so with QD the cost of mounts should be considered. I don't own a 308 rifle (I know blasphemy) but one is on the list, 300 winchester and above is not on the list and I won't be threading my M1 or M1917. So to summarize: 30 Caliber warranted for 5.56 out of at least a 10.5 inch barrel (more than likely would be 11.5 because of velocity differences). Being able to clean the can is important as a lot of the rounds will be cast bullets Needs to be a QD can Lightweight is a plus QD mount cost should be consideration as there will be at least 4 barrel mounts needed Can handle fast shooting but doesn't need to be rated for FA Thank you for your help. |

I don't know of any takedown .30cal rifle cans, but there's probably something out there. I doubt there's anything that's both takedown and QD though. That said, I would never recommend a takedown rifle caliber can. For it to have the same strength, it will need to weigh much more. Since you're buying two cans anyway, if cleaning the can is that important to you, why not just get two different cans? You could get one good 9mm silencer, which could satisfy the subsonic .300BLK and takedown requirement, and a separate QD 5.56 silencer that doesn't come apart. Maybe something like an SWR Octane 9 for the subs, and an AAC M4-2000 for the 11.5 5.56 would be a good fit. |

Huntertown Arms has a .308 can in works that will retail for around $550 that will be take apart like all of their cans.

| Having a take apart .30 caliber can to allow cleaning is going to be where you run into trouble. Have you thought of just buying a non take apart can and using the dip? Pretty toxic way to do it, but it gives you further options by allowing a non take apart can in SS or titanium. |

It's also not QD. If you're willing to give up QD, that looks like a very good can for your particular needs. |

Here's my next suppressor for my Blackout. 30 cal, Titanium and designed to be taken apart. However, it is not QD. I too will be shooting cast bullets. I don't know about take-apart and QD in a 30 caliber can. With the Ark30, I'll be able to see exactly what shooting cast bullets is doing to the inside of the can and clean it if needed. |

For now I am trying to avoid dedicated gun and suppressor combos to be able to maximize versatility. The only downside to using a pistol is I have to take off whatever muzzle device is on there to mount the pistol suppressor. I do have a sonic cleaner but I am not sure how well that will clean, has anyone weighed a sealed can before and after sonic cleaning? IIRC it's basically the cleaner is just vinegar that when complete leaves behind lead acetate. Is leading from cast bullets fired subsonic really something that I should be worried about? |

How do you dispose of the toxic material and what safety precautions need to be used in handling it? I've never used the dip but I'm going to start using it on my SS baffles. My understanding is that you're not suppose to breath it or touch it. That's pretty easy to get around just wear gloves and a respirator. Disposal would be at your local hazardous waste collection, most likely run by your county waste management. |
