Recommend a threaded barrel > 10/22 & 22 Caliber Rifles

Who's got a threaded barrel on their 10/22? I'm starting transfer on a Tac-65 shortly and need a new barrel.

Any thoughts? Pics would be nice.

Doesn't look like they offer a threaded barrel in black.

The threaded portion of the barrel is aluminum. Aluminum threads.........

If you don't move your can from gun to gun, it might not be a big deal, but it is to me. Having your steel barrel threaded is cheaper, by almost half..

I'll have to go that way. I'll be moving the can between the 10/22 and the Ruger MKII.

Get the threading done now. I had the can sitting here and no threaded barrels..........

A Leupold will be sitting on top of that rifle in a day or two.....

I sent my standard 10/22 barrel in for threading. That way you keep the iron sites. most aftermarket barrels don't have irons on them. Not a big deal, but i like em.

I love my tac sol; only complaint is that its almost "too light". It moves easily (for me anyway) and unless in a nice rest, the groups suck.

You might be shocked when you get your bbl. back with no front sight...
Threading it would require the front sight to go bye-bye.

Not necessarily. A couple good smiths do creative things to preserve the front sight.

Mark McWillis at TROS will bore out the bore (sorry for the choice of words) and thread the inside of the barrel to accet a short threadded barrel extension.

see my thread in this section titled...new threaded bbl and accessories...

i went with the tactical solutions black threaded end. have shot others with this barrel and looked extensively and it seemed the only way to fly for me...or the best anyways!

Excellent info. What did he charge? I still have a stock stainless with front sight I didn't want to deal with. Maybe I will now.

I had 2 of mine sent to Kurt's Kustom. He pulled off the front sight sleeve, and basically milled that same OD further back. So the sight is remounted, and threaded, but the exact same length.

I think it was $140 which included the threaded extension. I can't remember for sure.
