Extended choked tubes are easier to change since you can usually tighten/loosen them without tools. They also make it easy to see what choke you have in the gun. They also offer some degree of protection for the end of the barrel. As for brand, you probably won't have a choice. Your gunsmith is likely to be using thin-wall choke tubes and you'll be stuck with whatever he puts in there. Just out of curiosity, what is the intended use for such a shotgun? |
| I like the idea of not having the threads at the end of the barrel, so my vote goes toward the Remington pattern. |

Go with Rem-Choke or Win-Choke/Invector/Mossberg if your barrel can accept them. These tubes are by far the most common and have the greatest variety of constrictions and tube types. I posted some required measurements over in the SBS forum to help you know if your barrel can use these tube types. |

| Thanks ya'll. If it works out, the barrel of my 14" single shot 12 ga. I'd like to be able to shoot clays with it. Once a year there is a Man Camp at a Michigan Christian Youth Camp. We get to shoot at clays. Its a hodge podge of guys bringing whatever shotgun they have. Its the only place I have available to shoot shotguns with barrels under 28 inches. Several of the local ranges won't allow anything less on their skeet and trap ranges. |
