I was searching gunbroker for 9mm carbines and came across this:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=143661482 Now don't get me wrong, I have never considered buying a Hi-Point Carbine before seeing this. I have not heard good things about them and thought they were the ugliest firearm I had ever seen. Can anyone tell me about this new version of the Hi-Point carbine? Are they reliable? What kind of mags do they use? |

I liked the NEW hi-point so much i ended up buying another one a week later. for $230 it's a ton of fun. i had to paint the receiver cover though...just because i finish everyday. <a href="http://img199.imageshack.us/i/995tc.jpg/" target="_blank">http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/8985/995tc.jpg</a> Wow, so that actually is the new model? They don't have it on their website. |

From my short bit of research tonight, it appears it came out earlier in the summer. |

If you want to un-ugly a hi point. Get the $80 ATI stock. NOT MINE. http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy307/Maverick_88/995-Dura-Outside.jpg Any idea what rail is mounted on the top? Any idea how it was mounted and does it fit tight? |

It looks like all the extra parts, The Top and Bottom Rails, Trigger and extended cocking nob were all made by Bushman. http://bushmanparts.com/osc/product_info.php?products_id=48&osCsid=3a31a524511c24853a920d1cd832816b |

I have not heard good things about them My experience is quite the opposite. Aside from the looks and the 10rd mags, I've heard only good things about them. Mine has proven to be quite accurate and reliable. Quoted:
Looks nice, but for the total money outlay, a Kel-Tec sub 2000 might be the better buy since it takes Glock mags. They also have models that take S&W, Beretta, or SIG magazines. SUB2000 Mine (Beretta grip) has also proven to be quite accurate and reliable. Only problems I've had are due to crappy aftermarket mags. |

That's the new stock thats shipping with it.
I've got a hi point; fun shooter, but it tends to break down a lot. I think I may get a Kel Tec Sub2k that takes beretta mags at some point to replace it. ETA: the reason my hi point breaks a lot is because it's OLD and the previous owner apparently didn't know anything about maintenance. By and large, they are durable firearms. Mine's just a bit beat up. The reason I'm looking at the Kel Tec is because I can get one that takes Beretta mags. Then I can get a Beretta
