New to reloading (going to be) but not "NEW" in a sense of firearms and such and definitely around here..
I have a Dillon 550b on order and after fishing around for some SS loads to run through some of my suppressed setups, I find my self questioning if I should have ponied up for the Dillon 650. So with that said, would you veteran re-loaders spend the extra $100 on supplies/dies/powder and components OR get the 650 and then start buying the supplies/dies/powder and components?? On paper, the differences are the indexing (is manual indexing a pain or just harder, what is the 650's auto indexing advantage here??), more powder capacity, possible low powder alert on the 650 but other than that, I'm not (possibly because I just don't know) seeing a huge advantage besides cranking out an extra 500rd an hour. School me fellas! Thanks for any help you can offer. |

Once you get into a rhythm with the manual index, you could keep pace with an auto. Have auto index adds unnecessary complexity to your press for no real benefit. As to the powder capacity, once you have sat/stood there long enough to empty the powder hopper on a 550B, you will be ready to move around anyway. Especially if you are reloading pistol ammo. |
