| I've got a bunch of USGI M1006 riot control cartidges I'd like to reload. I've got the correct blanks and have removed the inserts from the cases. How the hell do you remove the spent blanks from the inserts. The only solution I've thought of that might work is to make something like a stuck case remover for a reloading die, but that sure seems like a lot of work. |

Yes, either use 212s and 3ish grains of Bullseye, or, if you want to reload the inserts, leave the brass in place, replace the primer, 3-4 grains of bullseye, and tape over the vent hole. I’ve also used lead pellets (as in pellet rifle pellets) to seal the vent hole. Removing the brass from those is a bear. You could also resize the vent hole and use a larger punch to remove the brass, then use a gas check and new blank in the base. I use a hand press to seat the new brass in the insert. GROG |
