Anyone here reload 5.7x28 FN? I don't see much on reloading this round.
Hows it working for you?

Thanks

You need to go to FiveseveNForum.com (Link) on reloading.

They have about anything you could want to know..

I bought all the dies, have brass, etc and looked into it for months, but I ended up not buying the pistol

If memory serves me, it's a bitch!

You are basically reloading rifle rounds (because of the shoulder), which makes everything more difficult. I believe you have to lube the cases (unlike most pistol) and you have to trim them as well (unlike most pistols). All in all it's very similar to loading rifle rounds IMHO.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no experience reloading this round, this opinion in strictly based on my research.

I, too, bought the components before a firearm. Someone was gracious enough to let me use their five seven to test in. I worked up loads for subsonic, 197 SR duplicates, and SS 190 AP rounds. It's a pain because

1. You can't tumble or you will wear off the lacquer coating
2. The shoulder gets reset so far back that you have to trim and only get 4-5 uses out of a case
3. The difference between safe round and over pressure is 0.1 grain so you have to weigh out each charge.

It's definitely not a round for beginners.

I have been loading 5.7 for 2 years now. You need to be very cautious with the powder. I have about 1,000 loaded in the ammo locker. II use honady vmax 40 grains with 6.1gr blue dot powder.

As stated above, go to the site. I am on there and learned most of my 5.7 stuff there.

I've seen 5.7 brass on the range that was extruded out and looked like .30 carbine brass.

Blowback + bolt bounce + bottleneck cartridge does not make for long case life.
