Ok so I fiinally got some Trail Boss Saturday & had a chance to load up a hand full of 4 gr Trail Boss with a 55 gr FMJ & they were crazy quite with my can. So in an attempt to get more energy what if I loaded some 77 gr Sierra's or I've even heard of 100 gr .223 bullets.

Anyone ever played with the heavier bullets for a subsonic .223 round?

77 gr is is the longest bullet that will feed from the mag anything heavier will be single round loading.

This place claims to have some 100 gr subsonic that will even cycle in an AR.

Subscribed. I've used titegroup under a 55gr pill with a side charger. Hard to extract. Not sure why.
clays is also listed for use with a 55gr bullet. (Lee 2nd edition)

I've also wondered about going heavier.
i ended up building a 300blk.

Yep I'm in the process of building a Black Out, but still want to play with the .223 subsonic.

I'm running a Mossberg MVP, so no worry about FTE.  If you feel comfortable passing on your recipe i'd appreciate it.

The load I listed will not cycle the action.  To be honest it is so quiet why would you want all that action noise to ruin it.

I hate threads like this.  I don't have a reason to make subsonic .223 ammo, but I do have a bottle of Titegroup in my cabinet.  I'm drawn towards making some subsonic rounds just because I can.

in my experience even subsonic rounds without a can are fun to shoot

In my 308 I shot a bunch of them before my can came home

but with the can its much much much better

Working up sub loads and threading bbl's has been the only way I've gotten through 7.5 months of waiting...
Stamps come this month...finally.
I'm ready. Got lots of hosts lined up....including my newest, a 16"  38spl / 357mag lever gun!
