In my Hornady manual, there is .308 bolt gun info and a special section for M1A.
Does the HK91 have any special needs for reloading?
I plan on reloading some 150 gr fmj, but I also would like to load some heavier bullets. How well does the HK91 handle either hunting style or HPBT/match grade bullets?

Works fine up to 175gr with what I've done. Worst part is the brass recovery.

I have been reloading for a H&K 91 since 1977.
While the brass looks "bad" after the first firing, I have tone a test where I loaded 11 rounds of brass, 10 different USA military cases, and a Federal commercial case 10 times, for a total of 11 times fired in the H&K.  No problems.

I recommend you get a H&K brass deflector as it makes the H&K throw the cases aboutl half as far, they they are easier to find.

I have killed a lot of game with a H&K 91 including deer, antelope, wild pig, turkey, and some smaller stuff. I also used one for a work gun for several years.

My standard 308 load shot great in every 91 I tried it in.

Use a 168 or 165 gr 308 bullet over 39.5gr of IMR 3031. Sierra 168 Matchking, 165 Gameking, HPBT or Spitzer, 165 gr Nosler Partition, and the 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip. All shot great.

Also the 91 likes 42gr of IMR 3031 with a good 150gr SP. This load hits the same place as most military ball rounds.

The factory H&K scope mounts go on, and off, and back on, and retain their zero.

Also the H&K 22LR Conversion Kit, is Very accurate and works 100%.

Ak 4: Swedish-made version of the G3A3, with a buttstock that is approx. 2 cm longer, the bolt carrier has a serrated thumb groove to aid in silent bolt closure and fitted with a heavy buffer for higher number of rounds fired before failure. The rifles were manufactured from 1965 to 1970 by both Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfabrik and Husqvarna Vapenfabrik and from 1970 until the end of production in 1985 – exclusively by Gevärsfabrik in Eskilstuna.
