| Do the same reloading issues apply to the Glock 10mm as found with the .40 cal (unsupported casehead, etc). I'm assuming they do considering the 10mm is simply an erect .40... |

Do aftermarket barrels, like Lone Wolf, do a better job of supporting the web? Yes. LW chambers are also tighter. The Lone Wolf chamber not only provides more case support, but is significantly tighter than the original Glock chamber. You might even call it a "match" chamber. With my reloads, I had about half the rounds fail to chamber fully. Quite annoying. They fed fine into the rather loose Glock chamber, but were too fat for the Lone Wolf chamber, even after going through a Lee factory crimp die. An Evolution Gun Works U-die will help (click here): EGW U-die page I now use a U-die when reloading 10mm. The U-die is simply a resize die, with EGW's custom carbide insert. The custom insert squeezes cases about 0.001" smaller in diameter than ordinary resize dies. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it will absolutely iron out any case bulge. It works the brass a little more than a regular size die, but will largely eliminate chambering problems with the Lone Wolf barrel. Now, I hardly ever get a reload that won't fully chamber. Hope this helps. |

BTW this is for a G-23 |

Thanks for the info. I am still debating on whether I really want to add a 10mm to the collection, especially if I have to add an aftermarket barrel. Then again, a semi 10mm would be a great pig gun out to 50 yards, especially with hardcast bullets. Boy that's an easy answer. Of course you want to add 10mm. An aftermarket barrel is no big deal, it may take a little more tweaking, but once you have it tuned it's great. I use the LW for target and shooting my reloads and put the factory barrel back in when I'm carrying for self defense. As a semiauto handgun hunting round it's tops. |

It's a great pig round alright. Even with mid range loads it will drop them.
I've shot a few mags of cast lead thru my factory G20 barrel w/o any issues. Loading mine on a SDB press and no chambering problems in the Glock or Coharie carbine. If there is a downside to the 10mm it's the brass supply. By that I mean you have to buy brass as there is never any free stuff lying on the ground at the range. |
