| I was reading some old info on the interwebs and found an old article that stated redding was the only company making K31 specific dies, apparently now, Hornady makes one. Anybody used the hornady? Is it K31 specific? Also where do you guys get the brass. I was looking at grafs and saw the prvi brass, anybody used it before? Is it good stuff? Any other brass reccomendations? Also, who has a the best load data for the K31? Also, everything I have read says use a .308 bullet, is this correct or is it best to slug the bore? Thanks for any help! |

Vandy––
Most reloading manuals have load data for the K-31. Hornady does. My BIL and I used the Sierra manual to work up loads for the 168 Grain Sierra Matchking. The powder we used was the IMR 4064, our load shot the SMK best just under max, and chronod at 2600 fps. Brass was once-fired PRVI, and the primer was CCI Large Rifle. As for dies, he was neck-sizing with the RCBS neck-sizing dies. |
| Thanks, I just got into reloading a month ago. i purchased the hornady lock and load classic kit. Unfortunately Hornady ran out of their books so I had to send in for one. I wans't sure if they had data on the k31. They said I should get the book in about a month. Thanks |

I use the lee collet dies, and FL set i only neck size till i need to FL size has worked out fine. actually will be restarting the work up this year to use better bullets and diff powder.
One thing that is very important is your overall length with any given bullet, you must check that thebullet does not jam into the leade. I use privi brass and cci primers, h4350 and pulled surplus bullets (.308) when i first started loading for it. Whenever i come across some wolf gold or privi ammo i buy a box, its accurate and gets me brass too |

I have used a few powders for my K31, but I prefer IMR4320. I have bought both the Wolf Gold ammo and the PRVI ammo. Both use PRVI brass, headstamp is NNY.
Have loaded the 145 grain FMJBT bullets and some 173 grain Milspec sniper bullets. I normally use about 6-10% less powder than a max charge. Not really doing anything other than plinking with my rifle, so case life is more important that a couple hundred FPS extra. You have to seat the bullets pretty deep because of the short case throat in most K31 rifles. I've also played around with SR4759 and 165 grain RCBS cast bullets. I had to nose-size the bullets because of the short throat. |

Just a note, if you can't find 7.5 Swiss brass, you can reform .284Win brass. Its all my K-31 has seen. Just run it through the sizing die, and trim to length.
My load, FWIW, is 43 gr. of H335 under a Speer 150gr. Hot Cor in a reformed .284Win case. WLR primer. |
