I'd like to start reloading for my 582 mini 30

Anyone know the bore diameter of this series? I have a handful of once fired brass and want to reload using hornady rounds for hunting. What primer, powders, and bullets should I use? I need to pickup the dies too and I guess there are two different options based on bore diameter?

Thanks for helping the newb

Mini-30 has a compound throat and a .308" bore diameter. Any .30 caliber bullet works fine.

The compound throat "eases", for lack of a better term, the entry of slightly larger diameter projectiles (.310" and .311").

My recommended loads are 24.5 grains of H-4198 or 27.5 to 28.0 grains of H322 when loading 125 grain .308" Sierra Pro-Hunter bullets. Seating depth set at 2.190".

Ruger went to the standard .310 bore back in 1994.
The 582 is .310.

I have found on another board that the first gen rifles were .308.  The latest I guess are .310.  Thanks for the powder recommendations.

I've used T680 which is the same as 1680.

I had worked up a load with 168gr 308 SMK over T680 for my Dad 25 years ago when I bought him his Mini30, but I can't seem to find the load data now.

From the Thunderbird powder manual:
Bullet type.........Bullet weight.........Powder type.........Powder weight.....COL.......Primer......Velocity.......Barrel.......Temp
Hornady SP...........123....................T680......................24.0..........2.185.....CCI 200......2230..........16 1/2........112F

This is MAX load in a 7.62x39!
