| Anyone found a good recipe for their SCAR? I'm going to start working on a load but was hoping to get some input on bullet weight. |
| I have run some 168 and 155g Sierra Match Kings through mine using some tried and true formulas that I use for my M1A and the SCAR actually shoots as good s the M1A using them. I have chronographed my loads and have been trying Alliant Power Pro 2000MR powder. With low pressures I can duplicate most of my ball ammo's velocities using the 155 g SMK's. I am sure I can go up in the velocity department with ease, but I am trying to play it cool at the moment. Go to Alliant's web site and check out their .308 loads using this powder. and it is pretty amazing stuff. What I really want to know is what powder Federal uses to load their MK319. that would be tits if I could get a 130 grain anything up to 2900fps using a 16 inch barrel. I have never approached this. Average velocity for Military 147 grain ball out of my scar is 2620 fps. 168g reloads=2500 fps. 155g reloads=2620 fps. I usually shoot Portuguese, Brit and Aussie ball, all are very close to this velocity with the Port the average lowest, and the Brit the hottest. None vary all that much. Hope this helps get the juices flowing. |
