While cleaning my Remington 597 trigger assembly i knocked a small spring out. I have no idea where it came from. The hammer still functions normally as far as i can see.

Looking for some help

If I wasnt out I would take a look in mine. I want to say trigger return spring.

If you drop the hammer what does the trigger do.

At first it wouldn't hold the hammer down. Then i pulled the trigger back towards the reset position and then pushed the hammer down and it caught. Now it seems to be working okay.
