Run far away. Bolts are super stiff, bolt handles break off. They were a terrible gun and didn't last long.

The 770 that replaced it is pretty bad also, magazine catch is always breaking and it is part of the stock.

Stevens 200
Marlin XS7 or XL7
Savage Axis/Edge
Ruger American, etc are all better rifles in the price range.

They're a disposable firearm.

For $700 you can get a used M700, Savage 110 or Weatherby Vanguard.

Basic 700s run $429 here, and that includes a scope-shaped object, as well.

For what it's worth I bought a 710 in 7mm Rem Mag before I knew better and overall its been a great rifle.  Sure, the trigger sucks and the bolt throw is god awful but it'll throw good groups (generally 1" or so at 100 yds).  The stock sucks and there are no aftermarket replacements for anything!  All that being said, my 710 is my go to rifle for deer hunting.  I have a rem 700 in 308 & 300 win mag but they are too damn heavy to be lugging around deer hunting.  I bought mine new in box from a friend of a friend for $250 and it's been worth every penny!  Disclaimer - You may get a piece of shit that won't group, that's a gamble you take buying a low price point rifle.

Sidenote - The relatively inexpensive savage Axis is getting pretty good reviews.  I handled on the other day and it definitely has a better trigger and bolt throw than the 710/770.  It was chambered in 270 and shot 1.5" with factory ammo after getting it on paper, price tage was like $340 or so.
