I've been reading the tutorials and trying to figure out the best way to strip krylon off a rifle to redo the paint job
Any reccomendations? I was thinking oven or carb cleaner? |

Laquer thinner. Paint it on, keep it whet for a while.
Most of the commercial strippers work well. Not sure how the underlying finish of the rifle will be affected, however. Try some on a hidden are to test. Carb cleaner won't stay wet long enough to loosen the paint, I'm guessing. |

What about off of plastic items? I painted my UBR and MIAD grip and I was thinking about changing the color. The paint stripper i have works wonders, but it destroyed a lancer magazine so I'm not trying it on anything else thats plastic.
Also paint thinner doesnt do a thing to krylon. |
| I've used Brake/Carb cleaner (anything primarily toluene based) on both metal and Magpul parts with excellent results. Toluene is the solvent that gives spray paint it's distinct smell, so spraying it on to dry spray paint simply "uncures" it and allows you to scrub it off with a brush or the rough side of a sponge. |
