I have an older AWC Optima .223 can that my brother was using/shooting on my M-16 and after quite a bit of shooting he layed the gun/can on the moving blanket covering the gun ranges shooting table. Well the can melted/stuck to the moving blanket and some of the factory paint came right off. So do I leave the can alone with no outer protection or should it be repainted? The can has about 2500 mean rounds down range (MRDR)

I would think that Rustoleum would get fragile in the high heat and flake/chip off. I have a rustoleum painted SBR that has been holding up fine. It gets so hot that I can barely hold it with my bare hands. the paint on the barrel seems to be staying strong but it is also largely protected by the free-float rail. |
