I have my M11/9 can mounted on my .338 spectre. What size would I need to make the hole through the wipes to be as tight as possible w/o touching the round and disturbing it's passage?

i.e. what would the diameter of the exit hole for a purpose designed .338 suppressor be?

What about 9mm?

I'm not worried about absolute suppression, more accuracy.

Regards
Jess

Unless you have a heavy duty steel 9mm can like the AWC CQB, I would think more than twice before using it because of all that extra energy.

338 spectre is a subsonic round based on the 10mm magnum cartridge.

boring the wipes/baffles is considered manufacturing a new, untaxed can. Be careful; pay your taxes and don't go to jail.

Wipe != baffle. Wipes are considered consumables.

I still need to know the inner diameter of the hole for .338 and 9mm cans.

I suspect you're operating in an area where the ATFE would have a different opinion of your activity that you would.

Thank you for your concern.

I still need a measurement on the exit inside diameter.

wipes are supposed to make contact with the round.
if you don't want anything making contact just leave the wipes out of the end cap.
if you really want to you could just punch out something larger than the diameter of the round.

i use 1/4 holes for 9mm and it works well but it does make contact with the round.

Wrong.

You aren't allowed to bore a baffle larger.  A wipe is not a baffle.  Therefore, you may do whatever you want to a wipe.

As for actually doing it...if the hole you make isn't PERFECT, it is going to mess up your accuracy anyway.  I would either leave it in, or take it out completely.

Now that we've established legality, can someone let me know the diameter of the exit hole on their .338 can?
