I have broken the bead on my Winchester Defender 1300.

I was finally able to get a grip on the bead and began twisting to unscrew it.

Despite having heated the area beforehand the bead itself twisted off and the stem remains in the barrel.

What are my non-gunsmith options?

If you're a handyman type of guy, just drill out the stub of the old bead, using
a drill bit one or two sizes under the diameter of the hole. Clean up the threads
with the proper tap and install a new bead. That's pretty much what you would
be paying a gunsmith to do.
