About to order a DSA scope mount for my SA58 Carbine. Scope is a  Weaver 1-3x, and I like the idea of the Leupold QRW rings, if the scope fails just flip the levers and toss it, & go back to irons. Question is will the "High" rings be about right? If need be I have a set of Busmaster risers, it's just hard to tell without having the mount already on the gun. I know that the rear sight can be an issue sometimes on an FAL w/ optics. Thanks!

IOR low rings w/ IOR 2-12

TPS med rings w/ IOR 4-14

The problem with the med and high rings is that the FAL stock puts your head down pretty low, almost in line with the bore.  Everyone is different, but in order to use the taller rings, you might need a stock riser or bag to bring your eye up to the scope.

Go as low as you can.  The Millet will not work with the low rings I have so I had to go with Medium.  Cheekweld is not the best, but is decent with an ITC cheekpad on a Para stock.

How about for with an Accupoint TR24 wearing a Cat Tail lever that requires an extra 0.25" of clearance? I tried it with QRW Low rings and the eyepiece didn't clear even without the cattail.

I find the measurements on brownells & midway totally confusing. Fortunately their return policy means it only costs me a couple bucks to try different heights.
