Got my Rock Chucker kit and unpacked that green monster.  The main ram has a little bit of black grit in it.   Is this oil or just grit junk?  Should i wipe it bone dry and use my own lube?  if so what should I use?  Divers Silicone Lube?  CLP? WD40?

Just clean it off and you can wipe the ram down with motor oil.  Just enough to have a sheen on it.  Do remember  to lube the ram ever so often.  I do mine on 500 stroke intreval.  Once a year I do a breakdown of the press to clean and lube all the moving parts.

Clean with WD-40 and scrap cotten patches like from cut up portions of a t shirt or something, then wipe dry, then slap Breakfree CLP on it.  30 wt motor oil is fine as well.  I don't lube my RC for long term since I clean after my reloading sessions (clean with wD-40, wipe clean, coat with WD-40).  Then next time I use it clean the old WD-40 off and lube with a heavier oil

Clean it really well, I wouldn't be opposed to using brake cleaner to totally remove whatever gunk is on it OFF. RCBS says to use their resizing lube on the ram, but as others have suggested any good lube will work. Keep it clean and lubed and your great grandson will be able to use it.

The only lube I wouldn't use is WD-40.  The liquid evaporates and leaves a lacquer-like film that you then have to use a strong solvent of get off.  The worse nightmare for a lock smith is having to fix a lock sprayed with WD-40 over time.  I like powdered graphite.  A small tube of Gunslick, applied then wiped off is even better.  That's just graphite in a light grease base.  It has great staying power.

yeah, WD-40 is a piss poor lube, but it's a cheap solvent

I clean the ram using patches with CLP and then just leave the residual CLP on there.....seems to work fine that way.

I considered using some Remington Dri lube with the teflon but never have gotten around to trying that.

I also tried a light film of white lithium grease and that seems to work.

I also agree with AssaultRifler about WD40 - its OK as a cheap cleaner. I clean a lot of stuff with WD40 and lube with CLP or some other 'real' lube.

Mobile 1 is so messy.

I think I'm going to try some White Lithium Grease or some LP.

Clean it up good, oil with 3 in 1 electric  motor oil ( 20 non dertergent ) or use ATF Dextron III

transmission fluid.  If they dry they will not leave any resizido (spelling wrong) . Easy to clean

next time, 2 drops do a long way.

sdshooter.............

3 in 1.  Maximum thrust per stroke!

WD-40 doesn't last long enough. craps out after about 400 strokes. 3 in 1 is still slick after 1000. Thats maximum slickage, baby.

the ram on my Lee was just the slighest bit gritty.

wiped it all with blue towels then applied several lines of Weapon Shield steel shield oil and cycled away.

running nice.

I applied it to the die threads also
