I had a customer come in and buy a 10/22 from us, as well as a weaver style ring set and low power scope. Using the base and screws provided by Ruger, they seem to have broken. In fact, this isn't the first time it's happened before.. I used a regular screwdriver and when it was hand tightened the screw just seems to keep spinning, as if the threads themselves are stripped.. Again, this seems to always happen exclusively with 10/22s, in my experience. Anyone else have this issue or some insight on the subject?

how much torque did you use?

stripping  the threads on a 10/22 is not unheard of, but i'vr never heard of them being stripped from the factory. it's usually from someone being a bit too enthusiastic with those tiny screws.

Brownell'd sells "oversize" screws in the original size, and you can buy a tap in a larger size to rethread the receiver and matching screws.

If you've been installing them like you would on a centerfire rifle you may be over tightening. Most drilled and tapped rifles are made of steel. The 10/22 is aluminium and rather thin. It is easy to use to much torque and strip the threads in the receiver.
