I'm ready to buy my first 10/22, and while I was looking at the cheapest model (#1103), I didn't see a stud to mount my Harris bipod on (I've only looked online). I know I could buy the Hogue stock which has, but i don't really want to drop another $70-80 for that. Unless it's highly

recommended by you 10/22 fanatics, that is. Is there a way that I can attach a bipod stud on the #1103 model so the bipod will mount? Or, am I blind and is there a stud already on there? It's kind of hard to tell in the pics, but it doesn't look like it. I just want to buy a base model 10/22

that I can attach the Harris to and then put a scope on it and it'll be done. Also, is $209 shipped from Bud's Gun Shop a good price for the #1103. After FFL transfer, it will cost me $229 OTD. I'm open for other suggestions as well. I like the target model, but don't want the added

weight of the heavy barrel. Thanks...

This will screw into the underside of the barrel band on the #1103 Carbine model? Like I said, I'm a 10/22 noob. Thanks.

EDIT: Or into the actual stock itself? After looking at the exploded view on Ruger's website, I don't think the screw will attach to the barrel band, so it must go into the stock, right? Please clarify...

Yes, it would have to go into the stock.  I would just get the Hogue overmold stock, I love it and it has the swivel installed.  I just posted that up there as a cheap and simple way to attach the bipod.

ETA:  Hogue pic added

Nice looking rifle. That is most likely what I shall do. Buy the 1103 and then the Hogue stock for it. I did some searching, and besides yourself, many a 10/22 fans like the Hogue stock. Thanks for you help

EDIT: That is the target model you have with the heavy barrel in the pic, correct? The target model is still a option, I haven't entirely made up my mind yet.

It started as a basic 10/22 carbine but I added a bull barrel and the Hogue stock later on.

Make up your mind (about the barrel diameter) BEFORE you buy the stock.  BTW.........try this place..........

Yes. There is one that has a small metal plate that sits on the inside of the foregrip that the stud screws into. Throw a drop of blue lock tight on the screw before you twist it in and you will be good to go.

Seems I have my names wrong, but yes, they have them...

A stud with a machine screw, nut, and plate. Just drill, add a little lock tite and tighten.
