Am looking for opinions on getting a Ruger MkII intergal suppressor. I own the pistol and a bunch of mags, which is why I chose this platform. I've read about AWC and SRT--BIG price difference. Also Gemtech Oasis, but I hear it's not as quiet. Any owners with experience care to comment? Are there other shops I should consider? Thanks! |

SRT is an excellent choice. Doug has mfg several suppressors for me (from .22lr to 50 Beowulf) and they work. I have one of his 8" integrally suppressed Ruger pistols. Below from L to R: SRT Professional, AAC Phoenix (no longer in production), Serbu Siris (no longer in production).  Doug's integrally suppressed Ruger 8" can is quiet and you can remove the suppressor tube to clean the expansion chamber. Dave |

hello. i own a johns guns mark 2 integral. all i can say is WOW! it is hollywierd quiet! it is super accurate, and feeds anything i shoot through it. if you hold the bolt closed with your thumb, all you hear is a little air escaping. i used to shoot it in town in my back yard, and no one even knew. extremely well built, and it comes apart for cleaning. kirk |
The SRT, to the best of my knowledge, can be disassembled further than most other integrals. Doug builds all of his rimfire cans to be user serviceable. You should email him with any questions, he really is a great guy to deal with and is very professional and knowledgeable. He'll give you straight answers on what to expect. I have never heard one of the AWC MKIIs but I've heard both AWC and SRT 10/22s. I couldn't tell a difference in terms of noise level I recently purchased the SRT 10/22. I think the John's guns cans can be disassembled to an extent as well. I used to want his stuff back before he sold the business, but under the new ownership there have been reports of reduced quality and service that make me a little uneasy. |

SRT has been in the running, as his prices have been the most reasonable, and I haven't read anything horrible...hence this thread. I'm told by some that AWC is great, but over-priced. I've heard a few complaints about John's guns quality slipping--I also heard that about the FN-made ARs the military are using--then I heard it was BS. Does anyone know if I can use a Form 1 if I already own the pistol--then send it to SRT or whomever for the work? Or, do I have to have my Class3/SOT do it? Thanks again. |

You will need to have it transferred to you on form 4 from a dealer in your state. A form 1 is used when you are manufacturing the suppressor yourself. If you do not already have a local C3 dealer, call Doug at SRT, he likely can recommend a local dealer who he has worked with in the past. Dave |
I have a John's Guns Ruger MkII integral, and on mine the barrel overall is about 8" long, with about half of that being rifled and the rest baffles. The end-cap can be easily removed with a socket wrench and the baffles taken out for scrubbing. After the pics I'd seen here and on SilencerTalk, I was pretty set on getting a user-serviceable .22 integral. I'm glad I went integral, as the balance is great (like a tapered 5.5" Ruger barrel), sight radius great, and looks natural.
I bought mine in early 2007, after Brent took over, and though I haven't compared old and new JG products side-by-side, I have no complaints about the QC of my pistol. It runs great with standard cheap HV ammo, relatively easy to clean, and the join between the shroud and the body is practically invisible. I have to get my eye right up to the steel to see the seam, I really doubt I'd notice it at all unless I was looking for it. |

I own a Johns Guns MkII, made by the original owner John Tibbetts. The workmanship is excellent, and the accuracy is outstanding. I recently compared mine to one made by TBA suppressors, and found the TBA quality far superior. The TBA comes apart completely just like Johns Guns. Unlike Johns Guns, the end cap is almost completely invisible and uses an Allen wrench to remove. Johns Guns MkII has two holes in the end cap for a spanner tool. The spanner tool is also used to remove the barrel nut on the Johns Guns. . The older spanner tool made by Tibbetts used steel dowels, whereas the new owner uses cheap roll pins for the take down spanner tool. The TBA suppressor uses a 5/8” socket and extension to remove the barrel nut to access the expansion chamber. The ports on the TBA unit are de-burred on the inside using a special tool. I read a report that the new Johns Guns units made by Brent Hemphill, shave lead inside the expansion chamber, which would indicate burrs in the bore. The suppression of both is similar, very quiet. The down side is the owner has three businesses, and TBA suppressors is a one man shop, but the quality is first class. well, if it means anything, it has been written that the AWC Amphibian is a documented man-killer, per Al Paulson in Silencer History and Performance (not sure if it's vol 1 or 2). |
