Have an old bayonet. Parkerizing is intact. Looks good under natural light. Under a flash from camera looks terrible with red/brown  spots.  Boiled it for an hour. Much of the red/brown remains. Any suggestions how to conserve it?

Pics often exaggerate colors. Especially flash pics. I've taken pics of new items for auction that appeared to have rust on them, but I would see nothing in person. My thought is that it may be trapped petrified oil or Cosmoline.
