I have a Remington #4 rolling block with a fairly low serial # 69,XXX that has some surface rust and piting.  I want to stop this from getting worse and clean up what is here.  It looks like most if not all the blueing is gone off the fire arm.  The gun was my great grand fathers and I'm hanging on to it for sentimental reasons.  I may try to find a hand full of bullets and put it under glass as living room decor.

Do any of you have suggestions?

Take some Birchwood casey barricade. Spay it on the metal and then rub with some 000 steel wool. Keep the surface wet while working. Then wipe off. This will take off the rust and leave what finish is left.
A spray of Barricade and a wipe with a soft rag to remove the excess say every 6 months and you should be good!

Thanks!  I'll see if I can track some down.
