Can a person legally own a short barrelled rifle in Michigan and if so what does it take to do it ?

So does that mean you have to have a class 2&3 dealer license or os that some kind of permit ?

If the state doesn't allow it, then you have to be a class III dealer with "samples" if I recall correctly.

There is no "permit." Unless you're looking to start a business, you're going to need to live with 16'' or move to a better state.

I think in MI you are pretty much screwed when it comes to NFA stuff. I think that the only way to have stuff there is to be a dealer, and you can't be a dealer just to have a collection Fed law prohibits that. You would have to be a dealer that was actually engaged in the business of selling  NFA stuff, but being no one else can have NFA stuff I think that you would be limited to selling only to LE which isn't a very large market.

machineguns are about the only NFA alowed in Mi . AOW's may be but I'm not totaly sure . I'd talk to a guy named Bustoff , he seemed to be in the know . suppresors would probly be the next allowed item as the law on them was very close to the one on MG's and it just to an AG rulling to make them good to go .

You can always go the AR Pistol route if you want the fun short barrels but can't have SBR's. Thats what we had to do in Alabama until July 1st of this year. Check of the pistol forum under the AR15 tab. Very informative.
