I plan on building a SBR via Form 1.  I have the lower already.  Can I legally go ahead and purchase the 10.5'' barrel and stick it on the lower while waiting on the SBR Form 1 to clear AS LONG AS I HAVE THE LOWER SET UP IN PISTOL FORM UNTIL I RECEIVE MY STAMP ?  Then once I receive the stamp I can stick a stock on there...?   Thanks

I'm going to say no.  When the lower was transfered on the form 4473 from your dealer, it was probably done as a rifle.  If it was done as a pistol, you'ld be ok.

You had to have bought the receiver as a pistol.  Check your paperwork and see if they put it down as a rifle or pistol.

I believe that I bought it as a rifle.  Is there any way I can change it to a pistol?

sorry dude, youre SOL.
a pistol can become a rifle, but a rifle can NEVER be a pistol.

ETA: if youre seriously jonesing, your only alternative would be to get a 11.5 inch barrel and "tac" a 5.5 inch flash hider to it

The 4473 on my last purchase says "stripped lower" - not yet rifle or pistol.

Interesting, because rifle, shotgun, pistol, and revolver are the only valid entries.
Doesn't matter to you, but the agents will say something to the dealer during his annual inspection.

Did you get a copy of the 4473?
